Congratulations to NASA astronaut Christina Koch who set a record today for the longest mission in space by a female astronaut at 288 days!
Christina Koch launched to the International Space Station on March 15, 2019 and will return to Earth in February 2020.
Christina Koch’s stay at the International Space Station wasn’t planned for the long duration that its become, but after set backs, her time was inherently extended and she became a record holder.
She will undergo several months of physical activity and therapy to help her readjust when she returns in February, if all goes according to plan.
Fellow astronauts took to Twitter, as well as several space community news outlets to share their congratulations, on achieving the milestone of longest duration in space by a female astronaut.
